Wild Geranium has thick rhizomes close to the top of the soil, from which it can produce a clump of above-ground plants 2 - 3 feet in diameter.
The fruit is usually composed five spring-loaded sections that form a long pointy structure, (thought to be shaped like a crane's bill). When the fruits ripen, the sections spring upward and each section throws a seed away from the parent plant.
